Backpacking
We have scheduled 1 backpack for this season.
Beginner Backpack: Easy/Moderate
April 23-24, 2022 - Harriman State Park, NY
We will hike approximately 1.5 – 2 miles to Dutch Doctor Shelter, set up camp, and day hike in the area (with empty packs). The following day, we will relax in the early morning, have another short day hike in the area, have lunch, break camp and hike back to the cars.
Beginners – Please note that we suggest you DO NOT buy equipment with the exception of a sleeping bag if you want your own. Even cheap equipment is expensive and we usually have enough to lend, including extra sleeping bags. We will go over various types of gear, pros and cons, differences, etc. on this trip so you can have some basic information should you decide this type of outing is something you enjoy. Equipment to borrow is on a first-come first-served basis. If you do decide to buy some gear, please check with the leader before you buyLOCATION: Johnsontown Road cul-de-sac
FEE: $30 (members $20) to be paid the day of the trip.
