Beginner Backpacking Weekend (Easy-Mod/Leisurely): Harriman State Park

Saturday, May 19 – Sunday, May 20, 2018

We will meet around 9am on Saturday at a place to be determined. We will hike approximately 2 miles to the shelter, set up camp, and day hike in the area with empty packs. Depending on the number of participants, we may offer two options – an easy hike and a moderate hike. On Sunday, we will relax in the early morning, do another short day hike in the area, then have lunch, break camp and hike back to the cars. We suggest that beginners do not buy equipment. Let us know immediately what you need and we should be able to outfit you on a first-come/first-served basis.

LOCATION: TBD in Harriman State Park

FEE: $40 (members $30)
DATES: Saturday, May 19 – Sunday, May 20, 2018
TRIP LEADERS: Jackie and Mary-Ann

PLEASE NOTE: As stated above, we suggest you DO NOT buy equipment, especially if it is your first backpack, with the exception of a sleeping bag if you want your own. We have gear to lend on a first-come, first-served basis. If you do decide to buy, please check with the leaders before you buy. We’ll be able to give you some do and don’t suggestions. We will go over various gear choices, pros and cons, etc. during the Beginner Weekend.

More details will be sent to those who sign up.
